Preparing for climate change in the countryside

85% of the territory of the State of Israel is within the boundaries of the regional councils, and accordingly, most of the open and agricultural areas are within those councils . Open and agricultural lands in Israel provide numerous ecological and climatic benefits, serving all the residents of the country.

לאור חשיבות השטחים הפתוחים להיערכות הלאומית לשינוי האקלים ולהשגת היעדים הלאומיים לצמצום הפליטות, אגף אקלים וקיימות בקק”ל, בשיתוף עם מרכז השלטון האזורי ומרכז אקלימא משיקים תכנית היערכות לשינוי אקלים במועצות האזוריות.

The program will support 12 regional councils in preparing strategic and action plans for climate change preparedness and transitioning to renewable energy. Selected councils will receive professional guidance and a budget to implement initial projects.

תכנית ‘אקלים אזורי’, תטפח את הקהילה המקצועית של מנהלי ומנהלות אקלים במועצות האזוריות, אשר יועסקו להובלת התכניות במועצות, תבנה תשתית לשיתוף ידע ושיתופי פעולה, תספק מעטפת ליווי, תערוך הכשרות מקצועיות ותמדוד אימפקט.
